Kat's May Newsletter

Breathe | Move | Thrive Welcome to the May edition of the Breathe, Move, Thrive Newsletter.

I hope you are all enjoying the warmer weather as well as these longer and brighter days.

Firstly, I would like to thank all of you who supported the Move for Ukraine Fitness Fundraiser organised by BFIT with Billie and Kat Waters Yoga last month. It was an absolutely super morning with around 50 participants enjoying the crisp morning and brilliant sunshine. Everyone was feeling fit and fabulous with a BFIT with Billie fitness class and welcomed the stretch and relaxation afterwards with Kat Waters Yoga. Collectively we raised £1200 for DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal run by The British Red Cross Society.

Thank you!

This month's spotlight is bringing your attention to the art of learning how to relax.

Research is continually growing in support of the belief that learning how to relax and spending time resting (or other acts or relaxation - I give you some ideas further down), is one of the most important tools to long term health and vitality.

It really does take practice because we are never taught these skills at a young age or in school. We are, as a species, highly stimulated by our jobs, IT devices, societal expectations, the whole kit and caboodle of life. Yet these stressors, will to an extent, always be there, running in the background. That said, there are simple ways to train our minds and bodies to help maintain our health and wellbeing.

Ways to bring rest and relaxation into your day:

Yoga

Massage

Meditation

A leisurely walk

Breathing exercises

Get at least 7.5 hours sleep every night

Eat whole foods and non processed foods

Being in nature, walking in a forest, a green field or by the sea

Below are more great ways to learn these tools for your health and vitality.

Kat Waters Yoga online live membership, has nine live classes for you to experience. Choose either the unlimited monthly subscription with on demand class library; alternatively, select the drop in option to suit your schedule.

BREATHWORK, MEDITATION AND COLD WATER IMMERSION

These three elements will help you harness the power of your breath, body and mind. Each of these practices will boost your immune system, reduce inflammation and improve mental, psychological and emotional clarity. Rest assured there will be no shouting Wim style. Come and thrive!
